The raging water broke the bank of the Parramatta river. Everyone was on high alert so they wouldn’t be swallowed by the severe flood. The houses started to break, rip, tear and subside.
Many people were devastated by the loss of their possessions. Pets were left behind not realising why their owners were leaving them. Many people had yelled “Help!!!” While the water had buried them in the depths of the flood. The water rose rapidly and devoured everything in its path.
Everybody was paralysed by fear.
Lily raced around with her older sister Fiona to the highest area they could find. “I want mummy!!!” Lily sobbed. Her sister Fiona had told her to calm down and that they would be safe.
But would they?...
When the horrendous scene had passed, the two tried to find their way to an evacuation centre. Fiona had her phone and looked for the nearest centre but it was hours away. The two had to go past a dangerous point that was the river which was still overflowing and swallowing the streets. So they had no place to go!
They were orphans from now on...
